Sunday Morning for Children

We believe that children can glorify God with their lives at any age. There are many children in the CBC community, and each week God provides teachers and assistants who minister to the children through teaching, song, crafts, and games (and snacks!).

Bringing children to an unfamiliar church can be unsettling for both parents and children. With that in mind, it may help to understand what a child's Sunday morning is like at CBC.

During the school year, the morning starts with Bible Blast at 9:30am, for parents and children age 5 through 5th grade. There is also a youth class for middle and high school students (6th through 12th). The classes are located in the church's lower level.  The nursery is on the first floor for children younger than three years old. Although it is not staffed 9:30-10:30am, parents may stay with their infant or toddler; it is staffed during the worship service after children are dismissed.  Check the Christian Education page for schedules and dates. If these two classes are not in session, then everyone's morning starts with the Sunday morning service at 10:45.

The Sunday morning service begins at 10:45. There is no child care at the beginning of the service, so both adults and children join together for a time of worship in song. This gives children a chance to express their worship through song.  After sung worship, around 11:05, children up to 10 years old are dismissed to Kid's Clubs. A little later in the service, 4th, 5th and 6th graders have the option of joining their Growing in God (GIG) class, designed to be an alternative to the sermon.

You are free to keep your children with you during the service. Many parents, for example, prefer to keep their newborns with them as long as they can, then take them to the nursery when they wake up for a feeding. If you need to take your child out, there is a door on the right side of the sanctuary at the front, which leads to a bathroom and the nursery.

If you do bring a young child to the nursery, you can stay with your child or let the nursery workers take care of your child for you. If you leave a diaper bag, please put your child's name on it.

After the service (usually around 12:15), you can pick up your children from whatever program they're in. There is usually a light brunch at that time, and the children are welcome to join.

All staff and volunteers that work with children have passed CORI checks.

If you have questions about accommodating a child with special needs, please contact the church office.
