We believe that children can glorify God with their lives at any age. There are many children in the CBC community, and each week God provides teachers and assistants who minister to the children through teaching, song, crafts, and games (and snacks!).
Bringing children to an unfamiliar church can be unsettling for both parents and children. With that in mind, it may help to understand what a child's Sunday morning is like at CBC.
During the school year, the morning starts with Bible Blast at 9:30am, for parents and children ages 4 through 5th grade. There is a separate class for middle and high schoolers. The classes are located in the church's lower level. The nursery is on the ground floor for children younger than three years old. Although it is not staffed 9:30-10:30am, parents may stay with their infant or toddler. Sunday School is usually in session only during the school year. Check the Christian Education page for schedules and dates. If classes are not in session, then everyone's morning starts with the Sunday morning service.
The Sunday morning service begins at 10:45. There is no child care at the beginning of the service, so both adults and children join together for a time of worship in song. This gives children a chance to express their worship with their voices. After the singing is done, around 11:05, children up to 10 years old are dismissed to Kid's Club. A little later in the service, 4th, 5th and 6th graders have the option of joining their Growing in God class, designed to be an alternative to the sermon.
You are free to keep your children with you during the service. Many parents, for example, prefer to keep their newborns with them as long as they can, then take them to the nursery when they wake up for a feeding. If you need to take your child out, there is a door on the right side of the sanctuary at the front, which leads to a bathroom and the nursery.
If you do bring a young child to the nursery, you can stay with your child or let the nursery workers take care of your child for you. If you leave a diaper bag, please put your child's name on it.
After the service (usually around 12:15), you can pick up your children from whatever program they're in. There is usually a light brunch at that time, and the children are welcome to join.
All staff and volunteers that work with children have passed CORI checks.
